Swimming Sports

On Monday the 7th we went over to the lido and had swimming sports there are 2 different types that you can do non-competitive or competitive I did non-competitive freestyle and backstroke all the non-competitive freestyle girls had to come out and line up in rows from 1-6 and I was in the third row and after 2 mins I went and hopped into the pool and the teacher said on your marks get set go and then we swam all the way to the end and I felt proud of myself after sometime we did the backstrokeand I did better than I did before and I was really happy and felt quite cold. Later after a few hours we got to have freeplay and I swam down to the deep end by myself for the first time because last time I didn't know how to swim to the deep end then we used swimming objects and it was really fun.

At the school Gala

On Sunday my family and I went to the school gala it had lots of activities there was the dunk tank,smash palace and lots of others I had lots of fun. First I went to the Ice Cream spider it was delicious. Later I went to the Smash Palace it was fun and it was very loud, After sometime I was feeling a little hungry so I bought some hotchips then I ran to the dunk tank and I watched people do it but no one got the target when I was there but then my brother tried it and he got out right to the back he missed his first two shots, but then he got the target and the bucket fell on Mr Bell my sisters teacher, then after some time at 2:30pm was the bike draw and after 4 mins they said the Senior Syndicates Draw and they drawer out 2 boys but they both weren't there so they did another one and my friend Sophie got it and I felt so happy for her and then we went home and made some caterpillars and they tasted amazing.

Athletics Relays and Dance Off

On Tuesday 27.10.15 we had relay trials and we had to run one lap and the first five would get in and relays are basically running but we do it for our team I was in tui which is green and we represent our team and we verse other teams. KIA shouted the teacher he called us out so we could start lining up at beginning line everyone was nervous 3..2..1 GO everyone pounded down the line and ran their best and the top five would go to the teacher and the others would go back into the hall and the people would go back into their groups and line up and do some stretches. All the teams had finished so as a reward we got to do jump jam dance, most people were excited the teacher put Gangam style on we stopped dancing and sat down while the teachers called their class so they could go back, our teachers didn't take us back to our class we had a dance off and our team didn't make it but we still gave it our best and everyone felt happy at the end of the day.

Week 1 Term 4 Integrated Unit

On Tuesday and Wednesday of week one term 4 our class has been working on our integrated unit and we did it on EVOLVING and we did a Technology challenge on Tuesday we made ballon powered cars and our car was a little successful but we were also learning in the pit, the learning pit is a thing we used for when we got stuck. We had three pieces of post stick notes of two colours(Orange and Yellow) We had to use the orange post stick note for our sayings another yellow post stick note for our feelings and then we made it into a pit and we sometimes got stuck but no one gave up. Later on Wednesday we had to cut out a very complicated piece of work and everyone thought it would be easy but it wasn't at all my group nearly gave up until we finally got it and we felt so excited and happy we also had to write our documentation about our group in the learning pit and it was very fun and a good way to write how we finally got to the stage that we had finished it.

Term 3 School Holidays

On the first week of the holidays my family and I went to Wellington to see my cousins there was a little baby boy that was six months old and a two year old boy they both a really cute. Later when we came we watched TV and the incredibles was on so I watched the whole movie because I hadn't seen that movie in years then it was bedtime so I brushed my teeth and fell asleep. The next morning we went to Te Papa and we took lots and lots of photos so we hardly got anywhere later everyone was hungry so we went to Mc Donald's and KFC for our lunch table we were going to go to the garden but thousands of people were there and it was the spring festival so lots of people were obviously going to be there so we went to Zealandia and it was super fun because we got to see the birds. After a few hours we were going to go to the Planetarium but it cost too much so we went back home and played a game and watched some movies and went shopping at the Mall and it was huge so we had to shop really fast so that we won't be late to leave back to Palmerston North then we went home and had afternoon tea and left back home I was really sad but I had a really fun time and I really enjoyed seeing my cousins.

TML(The Mind Lab) Trip

On 22.09.15 Tuesday My class (GRi11) went to The MindLab in Petone,Wellington there were heaps of fun activities that we could do, our class had a really great time at MinLab.

 

There was Stop Motion Animation and it was really fun and crazy we got to make our own animations and my groups one was the wizards spell in the animation the wizard did a spell on a dog and something went wrong with the spell and it grew bigger and bigger each time and and it exploded on the dog and the dog turned into a bull and it killed the wizard. There is a variety of settings that you can choose from.

This is the 3d Printing it is my favourite part at MindLab, we got to create our own 3d printing and we know that everyone wants there own 3d printing, and guess what when you've made your design they send it over to your place and you can make whatever you want so that you can enjoy what you do.

There is also the Scribble-bots and you make a robot that makes scribbles and you need a plastic cup a motor and pens etc you attach the pens and motor onto the cup and you can make it scribble on the paper and it looks very cool.

There was another thing called a MaKey MaKey and it was something that you use with circuits you put a wire on the earth and another wire into something different and you can play anything you want like play-dough and it can play what you wanted it to do.

These are the cars that we can make using cardboard CD disc's that make your car move and it moves when you give it a boost so that it will go and they can make a raceway and test there cars to see that if they can improve there car.

$10 Note Writing

One day there was a little girl named Rosie she had a favourite game called CandyLand, the reason she loved the game was because you earn money each time you find a special piece of candy shaped as a key you eat it and then you earn a note if the key candy is gold if it is silver you get a coin when you earn money you can go to the store and buy junk food so you won't starve. Later after a week the maker of CandyLand decided to promote the game so on the day that they promoted she (Rosie) wished that she could teleport into the game so that night she secretly sneaked over to the TV and stood next to it she closed her eyes and... She'd teleported into the game she knew it was going to be dark so she galloped all the way to find a bed she saw a round lollie that looked like a bean bag so she jumped onto it, After she felt a little cold she had an idea she could keep herself warm by wrapping herself with lolly wrappers. After that day she felt her stomach rumbling so she remembered that when you earn money you can buy junk food with it, she searched and searched for a key but she couldn't she started roaming around and then she saw a cute jellybean also searching for a key she also remembered that was the character she always used on the game. She saw a gold key she ate it and she sprinted to the junk food stall she bought a burger and a grape soda she finished it and then she felt energetic so she ran and looked for her favourite character Bob he hid behind the jaw breaker and she looked behind and she found him I'm scared scared she said to the bean she wanted to go back home out of CandyLand so she asked if Bob if he could help her she told him why she needed his help,After a few seconds he went and he came back with a remote so she said will you teleport me out of here he said that he can't unless she paid her $50 so she used the spare money to teleport her out of CandyLand she went got teleported back it was still dark she tiptoed to her room she found that everything in her room was made out of money she woke up and she realised it was all a dream but when she found the golden coin she fell into deep trouble she saw her money she got from the game that all that time the money was edible so she ate it but it tasted horrible so. After that day she went to school and told her friends about it and also her friends gave her money but she didn't want it she gave it to her other friend Sarah her friend said thanks and now she goes through the same 

How to play go home stay home!!

Hi today I'm going to teach you how to play go home stay home it is really fun to play with your friends and family.

1. You need at least 5 people to play.

2. You need to find a home so when the tagger chases you, you can run to the home.

3. When you have touched the house you say ''go home stay home 1,2,3''.

4. You can do 21 so you know which person will be the tagger.

5. The tagger will count to twenty and the others that are not the tagger have to run away somewhere they want

6. The first person that was tagged is the tagger for the next round.

7. If no one gets back to the home then the same tagger is in again for the round.

Finally Ready To Sell!

We are finally ready to sell our products our group is doing bunting and it has gone really well and they look amazing someone has already bought our bunting but we have heaps more to sell we also added a DECORATIVE PACK because we wanted the plain ones to have designs on them so that they won't look boring I am so happy I can't wait to go on our trip to MindLab In Wellington it is going to be awesome! 

Bunting Procedure

How To Make Decorative Bunting

In the end you should have something that looks like this:

You Will Need:

- Thick String Of Your Length Preference

- Paper,Fabric or Paint chips

- Needle and Thread For Fabric

- Glue for Paper

- Clear sticky tape

- Fabric marker or pen

- Something to hang it up with for e.g Thumbtacks

Method

1. Take your string and cut it to a desired length (approx 2m)

    2. Cut out a bunting template preferably a triangle one like this  one here   

                                                  

3. Use your fabric or paper and use it to trace your template so you can make your bunting.

4. Use the fabric and then use your needle and thread to sew on your thick string to the fabric.

Robot Toy Business

Has anybody heard of an amazing toy that is a robot that moves inside and is plush outside well you have found the place. At school we've been learning about business's and my group and I chose a toy for children to play with and it has a robot in the inside of the toy and it has plush on the outside of it and you cant feel the robots hardness in the toy and we have a range of different types of things that you can have like animals and humans and even vegetables and fruits. We have decided this because we thought that some children might like these toys and we are going to go to the fielding sale yards and farm markets to learn more about business's so that we can learn how to make a business and other things there is to learn about business's.

Highlight of Term 2

ART

My highlight for Term 2 was Art because we had so much fun doing different things because we did our art based on our learning like our solar system art was teaching us a piece of information about different planets and we got to have so much fun painting and using glitter etc. My fact for art was that Mars was named after the Roman God of War. Our second piece of art was Kandinsky trees and they looked very amazing and they were made out of a range of different colours to show the wow factor and I loved Term 2 in GRi11.

A Trip  To Earth!!!

Hi I’m Ella said the alien I want to learn how to become a… what people like you called,we are called “Humans” yeah what ever your people are called. I’d love to teach you how to become a human being, lets begin. First I’ll show you what you are supposed to eat and drink on earth, we eat food like sandwiches, Burgers, Sushi, Apples, Oranges etc we drink stuff like water, Fizzy, Soft Drinks, Milk etc. 

So what are these furry things because they taste very nice they’re not food they’re pets and get that out of your mouth that’s my cat and don’t eat my dog he gets very mad what are pets said Ella, Pets are animals that you can keep no look after. “It's cold” lets put the wood in to make the fire start ooohhh what’s that said the Ella as I put the fire up. That is fire and you do not want to touch it “why” it is burning hot and if you touch it you will burn yourself I wanna touch it OUCH!!! I told you not to touch it. I’m thirsty what would you like w-a-t-e-r said the Ella ok brrrrrr went the water as I put it in the cup he drank it all up. 

Now it’s time to learn what to wear, On earth we wear clothes like a t-shirt,pants,skirts,tights,stockings,dress,long sleeve top, and i will let you borrow some of my clothes so you know what it looks like and what it feels like here is one of my old favourite dresses you can borrow it for now. You fit perfectly in it. Now you can get ready to become a human you now know how to be a human anytime.

Cross Country Writing

CROSS COUNTRY  

Bang went the gun to start the cross country everyone ran as fast they could and then the crowd started to cheer for the year 6 girls the grass felt like the wetness of the morning dew. The morning fresh air blew into my face it gave me energy to run, oh no there was a hill coming I pushed with all my strength and then I got through to the next stage it had mud everywhere the mud splash onto my feet and covered my shoes.

Then we finished all of the hills and then we started to jog because we needed some breath to finish the rest of the run. This was the worst part of the run was the big mud puddle I did not want to go over the mud, but I had to go over and get muddy squash squash squash went the mud as I stepped over it I hated the feeling of it on my feet. Then I came to the last hill I thought I would finish but no there was still more to do on the run. I couldn't wait till there were hay bales so I ran as fast as I could to get to the hay bales but when I got there no hay bales were there so I realized that I this was the last stage I had to do to finish the run so I ran so fast to reach the down hill part so that I would be closer to the finish line and when I finished I was thirsty so I drink all the water in my drink bottle and got a sausage sizzle or two.

My favourite thing to do is Art because art is like a way of expressing myself and others. Art is a very creative way of doing things like if you have any rubbish that you could use you can try make something out of it like last time I had a old cup so I used it to make a stationery holder and you can make lots of different things so give it a try.

It was finally here 1915 World War 1 I thought it was going to be an adventure but it guess it wasn’t. I heard a gunshot my friend was shot I was so sad so I grabbed him and took him on my shoulders to safety. All the other men that came thought they were going on an adventure too but they weren’t some of them even lied about their age just to sacrifice the war. The first world war began and we were the first humans to go to the war, we didn’t even know if we were going to survive. My friend was really hurt so I took him to my trench and it looked like half of him was gone. and I knew what I needed to do so off I went and helped my country win

Dear Mr Kennedy and Miss Holder

Why can’t you let GRILL have our own learning environment It might seem like we are mucking around in class while we are in different learning spaces but actually we aren’t mucking around we have learnt loads of new things in this class and we should be able to keep it that way kids should have freedom but none of us want to be teach'ed like you did when you were young.

Kids should have a little freedom in life to do what they like. Ms G and Mr R tell us what to do next but we just listen and go to where we would like and start our work we also have been using paper but we have been moving on even higher levels and that’s good for our learning we have also got a literacy contract and we use it so the teachers can keep track of our literacy and it is much more easier because at the end of every week we have to get a computer and everyone had to come down to the mat and show the teacher’s what we have done for the week.

We even have our own blog and people from all around the world have visited our blog and we had a person from mountain view California

and please don’t change GRI11 because this is my dream class and I love it here and it has the best teachers and classmates ever.

kayak.

1. Firstly you get your life jacket and then you ask a parent for your Kayak then the parent will help you get inside the Kayak.

2. Secondly you get your paddle and then you hold it evenly in the middle of the paddle and then your right side should be facing up and the left should be facing sidewards then you start paddling side to side

3. Now you can Kayak and you go Kayaking wherever you go.
